CSC sentencing held for former Manistique pastor

MANISTIQUE, MI--   The former pastor of the New Life Baptist Church in Manistique has been sentenced on criminal sexual conduct charges.

Sixty-four-year-old Keith Swartz—now living in Arizona—was charged with two counts of fourth-degree CSC in connection with the 1996 incidents involving a juvenile.

Thursday he was given a 12-month delay of sentence for the first count and 90 days in jail on the second.  Twenty-eight days are to be served immediately in the Schoolcraft County Jail.

Swartz pleaded no contest to the charges.  As a result his name will not appear on the National Sex Offender Registry.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
