MACKINAW CITY, MI (AP)-- Some larger vehicles are required to get an escort while crossing the Mackinac Bridge due to high winds in the Straits of Mackinac.
The Mackinac Bridge Authority says in a posting Thursday morning on its website that the escort is required for high-profile vehicles such as pickup trucks with campers; cars hauling small boats or bicycles or luggage on the roof; some semi-trucks; and rental moving trucks.
