Cochran to spend life in prison

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   A former Iron River woman found guilty of first-degree murder has been sentenced in Iron County Circuit Court to life in prison.

A jury also convicted Kelly Cochran, 34, of larceny in a building, conspiracy to commit dead bodies-disinterment and mutilation, concealing the death of an individual, and lying to a police officer.

Cochran was accused of killing Christopher Regan, 53, of Iron River in October of 2014. She will spend the rest of her life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Cochran now faces the court system in Indiana, where she’s charged in the death of her husband Jason Cochran in February of 2016. One of the possible punishments in that state is the death penalty.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
