Civil War life explored at Marquette County museum

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   The Civil War is coming to Negaunee Township this weekend.

The Michigan Iron Industry Museum is hosting “Iron Ore and the Civil War” on Saturday, giving visitors a chance to experience the industrial and human sides of the conflict.

The family-friendly encampment includes costumed interpreters, artillery drills, camp cooking, period music, a blacksmith forge, and children’s games.  Michael Deren of Ann Arbor will also perform in the museum auditorium as a Civil War musician that afternoon.

The free event takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum.  For more information, call 475-7857.
