Child abuse suspect arrested in Escanaba

ESCANABA, MI--   A man has been arrested for child abuse in Delta County.

On Friday Escanaba Public Safety was notified of an infant being treated at St. Francis Hospital who presented signs of abuse.

The 21-year-old mother and 22-year-old father were questioned by police. Afterward the father was arrested and lodged at the Delta County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond. The mother was released.

The baby was transferred to St. Vincent Children’s Hospital in Green Bay for treatment of what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
