Marquette, MI - A Marquette City Commissioner has thrown her hat in the ring for the 109th State House of Representatives seat. Sara Cambensy made her announcement yesterday (Tuesday at the Peter White Library in Marquette. Cambensy says she chose the date of her announcement to coincide with ‘Tax Day’ because – quote - the most important issues our state needs to address revolve around our tax dollars and how they are being spent in Lansing – end quote. Her top priority is to bring the voice of the people to Lansing where, she says, too many lobbyists have the attention of legislators at the expense of local needs.

Cambensy is currently employed as the Director of Adult and Community Education and Kaufman Auditorium, for the Marquette Area Public Schools. She was appointed to the Marquette City Planning Commission in 2008, elected to the Marquette Charter Commission in 2011 and has served as an elected Marquette City Commissioner since 2012.
