Calumet man arrested in connection with stabbing incident

CALUMET TOWNSHIP, MI--    A suspect is in custody after a Laurium man was stabbed in Houghton County. Troopers from the Calumet Post responded to a residence on Hecla Street in Calumet Township Friday around 1:50 a.m.

Preliminary investigation reveals the victim—a 25-year-old Laurium man—had gotten into an argument inside the house with the suspect—a 26-year-old man from Calumet.  They took the argument outside, at which time they began to fight.  The suspect went back inside the house, where he allegedly took two kitchen knives, and returned outside.  Witnesses called 911 when they heard the victim yell a short time later.

The suspect is lodged at the Houghton County Jail on a charge of felonious assault.

His name is not being released, pending arraignment.

The case remains under investigation.
