Calumet area gets dental health funding

CALUMET, MI--   The Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center has received funds to increase access to dental care in the Calumet area.

According to the 2015 Western Upper Peninsula Health Needs Assessment, 41.3 percent of the region’s adults did not see a dentist in 2015.  An estimated 43 percent had no dental insurance, and 22 percent did not get needed dental care because of the cost.

The funding will be used to provide oral health care services at the Calumet Family Health Center for adults and children, whether or not they have insurance coverage.

The award is part of $156 million in Health and Human Services funding awarded to 420 health centers throughout the country.
