Brunke sentenced in triple homicide case

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A Manistique man has been sentenced for his role in a Schoolcraft County triple murder, and has received additional charges. 

Kenneth Brunke, 46, was sentenced to 40 to 60 months in prison for obstruction of justice and lying to a peace officer. 

He has said he was not involved in the killing of Jody Hutchinson, Carrie Nelson, or Heather Aldrich, whose bodies were found in a burned-out car last April in Doyle Township.

Following his sentencing Brunke was arraigned on new charges.  They include two counts of delivery/ manufacture of a controlled substance (narcotic or cocaine) – less than 50 grams, and one count of conspiracy to commit delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance – 50 to 449 grams. 

A probable cause conference is set for February 24.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
