Bothwell principal new MAPS superintendent

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette Area Public Schools District has a new superintendent.

William Saunders is the current principal of Bothwell Middle School.  Starting July 1 he’ll serve as interim superintendent for one year, after former superintendent Deborah Veiht was selected to head the Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Service Agency.

The MAPS Board says it didn’t want to launch a search for a new head so late in the school year.  After a year the Board will decide whether it will keep Saunders in the position permanently.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
