MADISON, WI (AP)-- The Wisconsin race for governor is getting some star power behind Republican Scott Walker and Democrat Mary Burke.
And the developments carry implications for the GOP presidential nomination fight in 2016.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told Wisconsin Republicans on Monday to step up their support of Walker, a potential rival for the party's presidential nomination. Christie says national Democrats want to make an example of Walker and scare conservatives from trying bold things.
First lady Michelle Obama, meanwhile, is campaigning for Burke. The Democratic nominee is a former executive with Trek Bicycle and state Commerce Department secretary.
