Bernard won't be charged for stabbing

MUNISING, MI--   A Munising man won’t face charges in a stabbing incident last Sunday night.

WLUC-TV reports Mason Bernard, 19, got involved in a mutual fight with a 25-year-old man and found it necessary to defend himself.  The Alger County prosecutor says Bernard didn’t exceed his right to use self-defense.

The man who was stabbed was taken to UP Health System Marquette for treatment and released a few days later.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
