Becks bound for circuit court for trying to kill Manistique woman

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A Manistique man charged with attempted murder has been bound over to Schoolcraft County Circuit Court.  

Thomas Becks, Jr., 58, is accused of slitting the throat of a 31-year-old Manistique woman who allegedly refused his sexual advances last summer.  The victim was treated at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and released.

Becks is charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, assault with a dangerous weapon, criminal sexual conduct with intent to commit penetration, and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Arraignment is set for April 9. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
