Barn catches fire in Delta County

ESCANABA, MI--   High winds are being blamed for a barn fire Tuesday in Delta County.

Escanaba Public Safety was called around 2:35 p.m. to property on K Lane and saw smoke and some flames coming from the peak of a barn near the house.

Officials say strong winds pushed some stove pipe off part of the chimney above the roof and hot embers lodged under the ridge cap, igniting boards under the metal roofing.

The barn itself sustained damage but none of its contents were affected.

No injuries were reported.
