Aspirus hospitals named two of 20 best in nation

IRON RIVER, MI--   Aspirus Iron River and Aspirus Ironwood hospitals have been named one of the 20 Best Critical Access Hospitals in the country by the National Rural Health Association and iVantage Health Analytics.

The hospitals on the list scored highest on iVantage’s Hospital Strength Index, a rating system that evaluates rural and critical-access hospitals based on various market, value-based, and financial measures.

They are the only two hospitals in Michigan to be recognized in the top 20, out of 1,332 critical-access hospitals in the nation.

A critical-access hospital has a maximum of 25 beds, must have 24-hour emergency services, and is certified to serve a rural community through cost-based reimbursement from Medicare.
