Arrest made in fatal Portage Township motorcycle crash

ST. IGNACE, MI--   A Curtis man has been arrested in connection with a fatal Mackinac County motorcycle accident.  

Andrew Loehr, 26, was driving the motorcycle on Sandtown Road in Portage Township May 23 when he struck a vehicle that was turning into a driveway. His passenger, Stephanie Maynard, 32, of Gould City, was killed in the crash. The driver of the vehicle wasn’t injured.

Loehr has been charged with operating while intoxicated, causing death and being a habitual offender, 3rd offense.

A probable cause conference is set for July 11 in Mackinac County District Court. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
