Architectural renderings of new Marquette hospital released

MARQUETTE, MI--   UP Health System Marquette officials have released artist renderings of what the new hospital will look like.

Market President Jim Bogan says while they’re still in the layout and design stage of the project, they wanted the public to see the architect’s conception of the overall design of the new campus.

The renderings are intended to highlight a hospital exterior that reflects the natural qualities of the region; glass and dark masonry at the hospital base, which serve as a grounding element; and color at the entrances that is found in prominent Scandinavian architecture.

Officials hope to break ground on the project in spring of 2016.
