Applications sought for school board seats

MARQUETTE, MI--   Two Marquette County school board members are leaving their posts. 

The Gwinn Area Community Schools Board has accepted the resignation of President Ronald Lauren, effective November 13. It now has 30 days to fill the vacancy. The person appointed to the seat will serve until December 31, 2018.

Anyone interested in applying should submit a letter of interest to Ashley Jenema, 50 West M-35, Gwinn, Michigan, 49841. The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. on Friday, December 1.

And Marquette Area Public Schools Board member Michael Kohler has given his intent to resign his seat due to work and family commitments. The remainder of his term expires in December of 2020. Those interested in the seat should submit a statement of interest, work history, and volunteer or community service experience to the Superintendent's Office no later than 4 p.m. on December 15. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
