Anglers safe after being trapped by ice on Lake Superior

uscg.mil

Marquette, MI - Three anglers are safe after their boat became trapped in ice on Lake Superior. The trio was rescued Saturday night after ice closed in on their boat off Marquette in the Upper Harbor near the LS&I Railroad Ore Dock. One of the fishermen called 9-1-1, and the U.S. Coast Guard and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team rescue crews chopped their way through the ice to the stranded boat. No one was injured in the incident.

The Marquette City Police and Fire Departments also assisted at the scene.
