Accident spills rubber on M-35

DELTA COUNTY, MI--   It took several hours for shredded rubber to be cleared from M-35 in Delta County, after a truck overturned early Thursday morning.

The Delta County Sheriff’s Office says a 51-year-old semi driver from Milwaukee was northbound near the Breezy Point Bar when he fell asleep at the wheel.  He hit a mailbox and overcorrected his steering, which caused the truck to overturn and spill its load of shredded tires.

The driver was taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital.

He’s been cited for careless driving.
