20th anniversary of Noquemanon to be slightly different

MARQUETTE, MI--   Changes are coming to the 20th anniversary of the UPHS Noquemanon Ski Marathon.

Officials say they were made to improve skier experience and prepare for future growth.

The 50K classic and freestyle races will utilize larger starting waves and the trail width for the first three kilometers will be increased to 30 feet. New sections of trail have been added and other sections improved, and officials have set a new finish line. It will be at the “Log Yard” about four kilometers west of the Superior Dome. That will allow organizers to eliminate the last four kilometer section of the course that’s typically lowest and snow cover and garnered the most negative feedback.

The race will be held January 26 through 28. For more information, go to Noquemanon.com.
