18-year-old injured in Houghton County accident

HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI--   An Ahmeek woman was taken to the hospital, following a two-vehicle accident near South Range in Houghton County. 

Sheriff’s deputies say the 18-year-old was traveling north on M-26 when she lost control of her vehicle and slid into the southbound lane.  She hit another vehicle driven by a 26-year-old woman from Hancock.

The Ahmeek woman was taken to UPHS Portage with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The second driver refused treatment.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
