$1 million bond set for man charged in fatal Mackinac County crash

ST. IGNACE, MI--   A St. Ignace man has been charged in a Saturday morning crash that killed a Brevort Township teen. 

Darrell Lovegrove, 40, is charged with operating under the influence, causing death and operating while intoxicated, third offense. 

The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office says Lovegrove was driving on the Mackinac Trail about a mile south of M-123 when he hit a vehicle driven by Mitchell Snyder, 17, of Brevort Township head-on.  Snyder was killed in the crash. 

Lovegrove remains lodged in the Mackinac County Jail on a $1 million bond.  A probable cause hearing is set for October 14, and a preliminary exam is scheduled for October 21.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
