On Wednesday, April 18 at 7:00 pm, the Peter White Public Library will be hosting a meeting of its book club, Sci-Fi on Tap, at the Ore Dock Brewing Company. In April, people often think about the environment, so what better book to read than Kim Stanley Robinson’s novel, New York 2140, dealing with climate change? After two pulses of precipitous sea levels rising, the city of New York is now a place where the buildings are islands and the streets canals. Finally stabilized, it now looks as if the elite want to take over what has always been an exciting city. When two coders mysteriously disappear from their temporary roof residence, it brings together a diverse group of characters who not only are trying to find the missing coders but who also are trying to save their homes. The meeting will be in the Tap Room, so look for a PWPL Sci-Fi on Tap sign. Come to the club, enjoy a beer, and express your thoughts on this novel. There is no admission charge to attend.
