On Wednesday, March 14 from noon till 1:00 pm, UP Rehab certified hand therapists, Aaron Lautenschlager and Stephanie Carlson-Ballone, will give a presentation on hand therapy, carpal tunnel and arthritis in this month’s Meet the Physician series in the Peter White Public Library’s Shiras Room. Occupational therapist Aaron Lautenschlager has a BS from Concordia University in Wisconsin and is a certified hand therapist specializing in the rehab of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. He particularly likes the field of hand rehabilitation since hands play such a valuable role in people’s day to day lives. Occupational therapist Stephanie Carlson-Ballone has a BS from Northern Michigan University, an MS from Concordia University in Wisconsin, and an AS from Lake Superior College, specializing in hand therapy and custom splint fabrication. She believes her work is important because, “The hands—like eyes—are windows to our surroundings. They allow interaction, communication and acknowledgement of the environment.” This monthly lunch and learn session is sponsored by the U.P. Health System of Marquette and the Peter White Public Library. Be sure to bring a sack lunch as well as any questions you may have for the therapists. There is no admission charge to attend.
