Event Description

The Peter White Public Library invites film fans to enjoy a bring your own dinner movie event on Tuesday, February 13, for a screening of the 2017 film Battle of the Sexes at 6:00 pm in the library’s community room. The 1973 tennis match between ex-champ Bobby Riggs and current world-champ Billie Jean King, billed as the Battle of the Sexes, was one of the most watched sporting events of all time, reaching 90 million viewers. Beyond the match itself was the story of Bobby’s gambling addiction and Billie Jean’s sexuality. This biographical drama won the 2017 Women’s Film Critics Award for Best Equality of the Sexes. Starring Emma Stone, Steve Carell and Andrea Riseborough, it is rated PG-13 and runs 1 hour 58 minutes. There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
