SPECIAL EXHIBIT at the Marquette Regional History CenterCONSUMER CO-OPERATIVES IN THE CENTRALUPPER PENINSULA: A MIDDLE WAYJANUARY 29 – APRIL 27The central Upper Peninsula (Marquette, Alger, Delta, and Dickinson Counties), has an extensive history of organizing consumer co-operatives, dating back to the late 1880s. This exhibit outlines how coops were involved in more than just selling goods. They have been active in local politics, aiding strikers, advocating for food safety, supporting immigrants, fostering communities, and fighting against other injustices faced by the working class. Spring into early literacy with books, songs and activities at our Sticky Storytime sessions! These programs for kids ages 0-5 and their caregivers will use the five ready to read practices: reading, singing, talking, playing, and writing to promote early literacy practices and create lifelong readers. No registration required.

A history of the Kentucky Derby will be shared including origin, traditions, interesting facts, and a Derby Winner with a local connection to Iron Mountain. Non-alcoholic mint juleps will be available, and participants will have a chance to win a Pegasus pin. Fake bets for the 2024 Derby winner will be placed for fun!
