Marquette Regional History Center presents: Cross Country ClosserWednesday, April 17, 6:30 p.m. You may have heard the tale of a senior citizen from Marquette who, early last May, set off on a bike ride across the country. Whether you know Bruce Closser or not, this 4,200 mile journey on the TransAmerica Bicycle Trail can only be described by the man himself. SPECIAL EXHIBIT at the Marquette Regional History CenterCONSUMER CO-OPERATIVES IN THE CENTRALUPPER PENINSULA: A MIDDLE WAYJANUARY 29 – APRIL 27The central Upper Peninsula (Marquette, Alger, Delta, and Dickinson Counties), has an extensive history of organizing consumer co-operatives, dating back to the late 1880s. This exhibit outlines how coops were involved in more than just selling goods. They have been active in local politics, aiding strikers, advocating for food safety, supporting immigrants, fostering communities, and fighting against other injustices faced by the working class. The Laughing Whitefish Bird Alliance and MI Birds invite you to “Birds and Brews.” Play bird trivia and learn about the importance of our public lands to birds—all while enjoying a complimentary drink on us! Jeff Towner, MI Birds program ambassador, will give a brief presentation on the MI Birds program, an education and outreach program from Audubon Great Lakes and Michigan Department of Natural Resources. There will be two rounds of bird-related trivia covering 10 topics with MC Steve Waller, LWBA member. There will also be bird-themed coloring pages for children to color.
Marquette's new bonsai group's monthly meeting! All are welcome! Each meeting we'll discuss seasonal techniques, what we should be doing based on the time of year, as well as talking about current projects, tools, and trees!
